I'm still alive! Despite work and real life dramas and well, work. And I totally have something new to update with for Christmas, except it needs to be cleared by other parties before I can put it up online. In the meantime, in case I don't get clearance to post it for Christmas I'm taking up the option to do something else.

There's a meme going around to "read an excerpt or a fic of yours aloud", which is very nifty. Here's how it works: you pick a passage from anything I've written (the meme gives a limit of 500 words but I'm willing to go for a single scene*), I go away and record myself reading it, and then I post it up for you to download and listen to my Australian-yet-apparently-vaguely-British accented English. It's as easy as that, and potentially lots of fun because I actively read my fics aloud when writing them to get the dialogue flow and pacing and so forth. Actually, there was one time I submitted Glass Eyes for a university creative writing course and not only did I get top marks for it, I had to read that entire fic aloud to the whole lecture theatre in my best creepy little girl's voice.

I promise to update with fic, really, real life is just grabbing me by the neck lately T_T

* Conditions
- Although I'm more than willing to read aloud a whole scene, if the scene is too long I reserve the right to cut it down.
- No porn or sex fics/scenes. Writing them is one thing; reading it aloud is quite another, and besides, they're far less interesting read aloud than banter or dialogue.

Give me one of my own stories, and a timestamp sometime in the future after the end of the story, or sometime in the past before the story started, and I'll write you at least a hundred words of what happened then, whether it's five minutes before the story started or ten years in the future.
